Assignment for October 2

We are finishing up another lesson today. Thinking about what it means to have my life hidden in Christ has been good for me. It's too bad that the physical things are so distracting - but it's great to know that they don't have to be. Just keep that focus....

Done for today. Also done for yesterday and will go back to post anything that I came up different from Sarah.

Here are my answers for today...
1a. When Jesus returns he'll do it with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet call of God vs. 16
1b. Those who have already died in Christ will rise first vs. 16
1c. Those alive will be caught up in the clouds with Jesus and those who have already died vs.17

2. Those who don't believe in Christ and obey the gospel will be sent to everlasting destruction

3. That we will be like him, we're going to be changed to see him like he is. But we also don't know exactly what we will be.

4a. Col. 2:20 "Since you died with Christ..."
Col. 3:1 "...you have been raised with Christ..."
Col 3:3 "...your life is now hidden with Christ..."
Col 3:4 "...you will also appear with him in glory."

Here are mine, which are mostly the same as Tam's.

1a. He will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumped call of God.

1b. The dead in Christ will rise first.

1c. Those who are still alive in Christ will be caught up with the risen dead in the clouds to meet Jesus in the air. And we will be with Him forever.

2. When Jesus comes, God will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel. He will punish with everlasting destruction and shut them out from the presence of the Lord and the majesty of His power. He will also be marveled at by all those who believed.

3. We will be changed to be like Him, because we will see Him as He is. (I'm wondering if we'll undergo the same sort of transfiguration that Jesus underwent before his ascension? Because we're going to be changed to be like Him? I don't know the answer.)

4a. Col 2:20 "Since you died with Christ"
Col 3:1 "you have been raised with Christ"
Col 3:3 "your life is now hidden with Christ in God"
Col 3:4 "you will appear with him in glory"

Do they describe the shape of my life? Well, they should, and that's something I need to keep working on until the day I die.

Memory verses:

Col 2:6-7 Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving

Col 3:1-4 Since you were raised with Christ Jesus the Lord, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above...

(and that's as far as I've gotten on that one!)

I am back - made it safely home.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things above, where Christ is sitting on the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, we will also appear with Him in glory. Col 3:1-4

As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Col 2:6-7
