We continue one with our little section today. Did you spend a little more of the day yesterday thinking about things above?
Lesson Six, Day Three

Jennifer, on 3a. yesterday, I kind of wondered what she was asking too. I thought perhaps she was thinking of the Thessalonians, where some of them thought the Lord was coming back SOON, so they were just waiting around for Him and not doing any work or living regular lives. If people feel they aren't supposed to "mind" earthly things, then they might spend ALL their time in "spiritual" pursuits neglecting the basic duties of life...just a thought.
As for today..........
1. In verse 1, Paul says that we are to SEEK those things which are above, where Christ is...search them out, really look for them. In verse 2, he adds to SET YOUR MIND on those things...make sure you understand those things and to form your attitudes and plan your life around those things, not earthly things...material or carnal things.
2. I can think of LOTS of examples of minding earthly things, instead of things above...I'll just give a few from my own life:
-working on a painting instead of doing my Bible lesson
-neglecting my home because I'm playing computer games too much
-getting caught up in a project and forgetting to feed my husband
NOT THAT I WOULD EVER DO ANY OF THESE THINGS! Just sayin'... :)
3. In I Tim. 6:17-19, we're told to not trust in earthly riches, but trust in God who BLESSES us richly. Not to store up treasures here, but be RICH in good works to store up our treasure for an eternal reward.
