Assignment for September 29

I enjoyed your comments yesterday, ladies. Sarah J., setting your mind on things which are above is a life-long process. I believe it begins to happen somewhat naturally as we continue to study and become more like Christ but also takes self-discipline. As we live our lives we should always be remembering that because Christ IS our life we are becoming a living Christ on earth - a Christ in your situation. How would Christ look as a nurse? a mom? a housekeeper? a wife? an accountant? married to a difficult husband? a young woman? an older woman?

Today we look specifically at verse one and what it means to be raised with Christ.

Lesson Six, Day Two

Done for today and yesterday too.

It seems like today's lesson is trying to drive home that part of being able to live for Christ/to be raised with Christ is because he has relieved us of our sins. So, as I try to do good for him, even when I stumble, I can repent and put those things aside and focus on doing his will. I don't have to carry them with me anymore. If we had to continually carry that baggage, it would be so much more difficult to start fresh each day and focus on him, and to put him first.

Another thought from yesterday, which seems to build today. It seems hard to focus on Christ while we do the mundane tasks of the day, but at the same time, I often find that doing those routine tasks allows more time to meditate and converse with God (i.e. cleaning the toliet & meditating on our lesson at the same time).

You made me smile. I don't think I have EVER meditated on God's word while cleaning the toilet. I will try it next time and I expect that it will not be the dreaded task that always think it is.

I'm a little brain dead today, ladies, with a yucky cold, so ... my answers may reflect that!

1. Ephesians 2:4-7 reminds us that when we are saved through Christ, He raises us to sit with Him in Heaven.

Romans 6:1-13 reminds us that as we were buried with Christ in baptism, we should be raised to not only salvation but new life where we put away sin and focus on God and His glory.

2. Being raised with Christ means that I am not a passive recipient of grace. Because I physically went through baptism (death), I also should feel a physical need to live my new life for Christ.

3. a. I'm not sure what she's asking here. Sometimes when we think in worldly terms, we think of "above" in a arrogant way (as in: "I can't do that because it's beneath my dignity.") That is obviously not what this is talking about, so????

b. We need to keep seeking Christ -- He is seated at the right hand of God.

4.a. It is encouraging. It means God has not commanded me to attain this; He has commanded me to continue to seek it. It means that God is judging me by the effort of my heart.

b. If I have not been raised with Christ, I was never buried with Him either. That means my sin is still on my own shoulders and I have no hope of partaking in His glory.

Done for Wednesday.

As you have received Christ, seek those things that are above, where Christ is, sitting on the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. If you died, your life is with Christ in God. If you see Christ who is our life appear, know you will also appear to see His glory. Col 3:1-4

I am getting mixed up with the start with the other memory verse.

As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in the faith and established in it, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Col 2:6-7

Now I am getting this one messed up. Ugh!
