Assignment for Friday, February 13

Wow - this week went by quickly for me. (No old jokes needed. :)) Today's assignment is to answer question 9 and do the Digging Deeper exercise. A couple of our ladies have had sick families this week. I've missed your comments!

Can you identify the verse? (NKJV)
1. There is math involved.
2. There is a purpose.
3. Something Peter said.

I went back this morning and read the teacher's guide (duh) for #8, and she gave the reference of I Thes. 3:7, which talked about Paul's own "affliction and distress", so that was the circumstance he was in...it would have been helpful if she had just included that reference in the question...

done for today

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works...Heb 10:24

Brethren count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience...James 1:2-3

And as we receive a gift let us minister it to each other, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God...I Pet. 4:10 (this one?....)

I am caught up.

And as each one receives a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10

For #8 - I went to Acts 18 (which is about the time he wrote this) and saw he was in Corinth. The Jews were not accepting the message and Paul has to 'shake off the dust from his feet' and go to the Gentiles. I didn't check out the Teacher's Guide - is it in the back of the book?

Jannae still has a fever but she continues to tell us she feels fine. Her cough is finally sounding bad - meaning it is breaking up. Hopefully we will see you on Sunday. I am having doubts because she is never sick this long with a fever. Every morning for the last 3 days I wake up expecting it to be gone. Yesterday was the highest. I would be more concerned if she wasn't feeling so well.

Done for today.

Is the answer to your "riddle" I Peter 1:2? (Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord)

"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." I Peter 4:10

"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance." James 1:2-3

"Consider how to stimulate one another to love and god deeds." Hebrews 10:24

Praying for Jannae, Julie! Let us know if we can do anything

9. Paul asked them to become complete, be of good comfort, be of one mind, and to live in peace. They were to be encouraging to each other.

Digging Deaper

2 Cor 9:13 - The Corinthians were not only willing to share what they had, but they shared abundantly.

Philemon 1:6 - Philemon was urged to share his faith. This can sometimes be hard for me to do, but what better thing is there to share with someone?

I Tim 6:18 - Paul wanted the rich Christians to not become haughty and trust in their riches but to become rich in good works and be willing to share what they had.

Heb 13:16 - Sharing can be a sacrifice, but it is a sacrifice that pleases God.

MV Quiz - Maybe I got this wrong, but I think that you are asking for a verse for each one of your little clues.

1. My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
James 1:2-3

2. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works. Heb 10:24

3. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. I Peter 4:10

Duh! Yes, Audrey, I'm sure you're right. And I was so proud of myself for finding a "multiply" verse! Oh well!
