Assignment for Thursday, February 12

Well, now. Since I messed up yesterday's assignment just a bit, today you have an easy day. Answer question 8 and try out that memory verse as best you can.

Well, I tried to answer #8, but I wasn't sure what she wanted...Paul's circumstances when he wrote I and II Thes. was that he was in Corinth with Timothy and Silas (?). But no matter what was going on in his own life, he would be happy for the Thessalonians if he was hearing encouraging things from and about them. Maybe I'm missing the point?

As each one has received a gift, minister it to each other, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. I Pet. 4:10

I was a little confused by that too, but glad you voiced it Ann, better than I would have.

"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." I Peter 4:10

My understanding is that Paul was waiting anxiously to hear if they were OK. Remember he had to leave Thessalonica fairly quickly after establishing the church there so he would be really worried that all the persecution would have discouraged or even destroyed them. When he heard they were standing strong it would have been a great encouragement to him.

Done for today. I also couldn't figure out the answer, but now I know.
