Assignment for Thursday, May 21

Today we will look at more characteristics of "agape" love. I'm enjoying studying this and realizing I still have a long way to go in growing up in Christ. It's nice to know that during that long process, God loves me even with all my imperfections.

Done for today.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

Yes! I remembered "faithfulness" today -- that's too important to leave out.

Now-my answers for today:
The things God gives us permission to enjoy are those that provoke Godly thoughts--those things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, praiseworthy

I am probably somewhere in the middle of the anger scale--certainly not as slow as I should be, but not nearly as quick as I used to be. And, yes much of my anger comes from hurt feelings.

God is slow to anger and rich in love

Gentle answers turn away anger while a harsh word stirs it up

If I react in anger it will aggravate the situation, if I react w/patience-being slow to speak it will calm the quarrel

I think someone who exercises self control is greater because they are showing power over their emotions.

A person receives glory by overlooking an offense

I can make life miserable for myself and others by being argumentative

The company we keep is important because we can learn to be easily angered.

God's agape toward my sin--he does not repay according to our sin or none of us would have the possibility of going to heaven

God' ability to forgive/forget is superior (obviously)

I would be a better forgiver of wrongs if I
remembered to let God be in charge of justice/revenge, did not indulge in self pity, focused on the future, and remind myself constantly that God is the only one who I can count on to never disappoint me--everyone else is fallible

If I embraced the words/attitude of the Psalmist I would have a heart that was set free because all of my concern would be for God and what God would want versus what others think and what my desires are

agape covers a multitude of sin
