Finished Ezra over the yesterday and today.

I found it funny that Darius had the enemies of the Jews directly assist in the building of the temple (6:8). The tax money would stay in the area - and if you try to hinder the work, you will be hanged!

8:21-23 - Ezra prepares the people to trust the Lord for the trip, and v31 shows it was successful.

Sorry I didn't post on Friday...the days just seem to get away from me sometimes. I caught up on my reading on Saturday, but of course I'm behind again because I didn't read yesterday! Sigh...
I will catch up today and start on Romans 3! Yay, a new chapter to think about!

learning more today about trust, belief, and action. I think today's lesson (still centering around Rahab) was good for me in the sense that it reminded me of the times I have had to stand up against the crowd and be strong. A situation that keeps replaying in my mind is when people would come into labor and delivery to have labor induced around 20-24 weeks because there was a chromosomal/genetic abnormality. As a nurse I could opt out of this situation, but there were occasional comments from others about the rest of us not having the right to judge a situation etc etc. Everyone knew my views and it was difficult--this is obviously an emotionally charged subject. I think this reminds me that although I may not be in the same instances now that I am home, I still come upon difficulties and I need to stop and pray and figure out where God stands on the issue. I sometimes am hasty to answer and it helps me so much if I just wait and study it deeper.
Also learning more about how trust really plays out--a downfall for me is trying to "help" God in situations by praying about it and then trying to fix it all myself when sometimes a little patience is required.

Done with my lesson for today. One verse from my reading today that stood out to me was Psalm 94:18-19.

If I say, "My foot slips,"
Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up.
In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.

That's a great passage, Audrey. Thanks for sharing it!

I read Luke 4 and for some reason it really comforted me when Jesus quotes the following passage and says He is fulfilling it at that very moment: The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor: He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

I know that John 3:17 says Jesus did not come into the world to condemn it, but this passage just seems really encouraging.
