My morning time is up, but I'm not quite finished with my lesson for today so I'll have to finish it later. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to be first again. :)

I like this format. I like that we can all do things that we'd like to and still have the accountability. I'd like to do it again next time.

I agree. I like being able to concentrate on what I want to do, but still be accountable...especially for my daily Bible reading and my memorization. Although, I don't feel I've done that well yet, but I've been fighting my brain, so any progress I'll be happy with...

I have been reading daily (Thursday and Friday - finished Nehemiah - today read the first 4 chapters of Esther).

If I don't post before Jannae gets up, I end up getting involved in the day and oops, not done. Mainly because I want to post about my reading, not just that I did it. But I may just do the simple post - so I don't forgot to actually read - you guys are really helping me instill this habit. I am looking forward each morning to do this - I just need to finish the habit and post! I want to thank you all for being there.

Esther is a book that obviously shows God working. But it reminds me that He was (is) working is Ezra and Nehemiah and all the books I have read so far. Those 'boring' chapters reinforce to me that the line from David to Jesus needed to be perserved - and it was done through the captivity and continue through the 400 years of silence.

Esther also teaches me not to fear but to trust in God. My devotional reading reminded me of Ps 46:2,6 - 'therefore I will not fear...' and 'Be still and know that I am God'. So when fearful things may happen (a test result you are waiting on, uncertainity in finances, etc) God is there, I need not fear, be still.

I caught up on the posts for the last 3 days - looks like this format is working - for me too! So that is at least 3!

I agree with Audrey - to continue it for the next time.

Monday morning - I have read Job 1-3.

I noticed in 1:9-10 that Job is unusual because of what Satan sees in him. Majority of people, at least in our day and age, don't look to God as the reason for their riches and blessing, they 'forget' God. Just read about Haman, in Esther 5:11-13 he lists all his great things ( riches, children, his standing with the king) but he is concerned about one man. Instead of contentment, he wants more. Job is satisfied with what he has been blessed with and thanks God for it, remembering where it came from.

2:9 - I always forget about the wife. She also lost all and is suffering grief, especially losing her children. That is one of my fears, losing Jannae. But I hope and pray that I would react like Job and not his wife.

Chapter 3 - this seems a good chapter to read before seeing someone suffering grief. To help understand their feelings - and not be like the one mentioned in Prov 25:20 (singing songs to one with a heavy heart).
