Day One

Welcome to the new blog study - the Choose Your Own Study version. This is a little different than we have done before so it's a bit of an experiment. Each day you are to post what you did and any insight you may have gained from your study so we can all benefit. This study will go until the end of March and then we will evaluate how it has worked for us. I'm looking forward to your posts!!

I did mine.

Read 1 Chronicles 17-21. David's prayer after God said 'no' to David's plan for building His house was beautiful. He was humble, reverent, thankful. Good example of prayer. Also noted that he hadn't worn a crown until he took it off of a conquered king.

Just so others know, I am reading through the Bible in a year. But I am actually continueing from where I left off last year (the other studies came first and I got behind). So that's why I am already in 1Chronicles.

I am doing the book Becoming a Vessel God can use by Donna Partow on M,T, Th, and Fri
On Wed I am doing the Wed Bible lesson
Today was focusing on trying not to be perfect and instead focusing on yielding myself to God and to His use.
My memory verse for the week is Is 55:8-9 (I am copying today at least and probably most days--I will do this, but it won't be my focus)
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways" declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Sarah you reminded me that I wanted to do memory work as well. But what I am currently doing doesn't lead to one specific verse. And I didn't spend any time looking for some other 'plan' to do it. I may find something and add it. But for now, my bible reading is it.

Yea! It's so nice to be back with you all on this blog! I haven't finished my Bible reading yet for today - just stopped in to see if anything was happening.

OK, now I have read my Bible reading which today was Mark 5-6. I am always amazed at Jesus' patience with the people. Even when He left for a much-needed rest and they ran ahead to meet Him, He feels compassion for them and takes time to teach and feed them. It reminded me of when my kids were little and always seemed to need something. I would feel so tired and then would look into their little sweet faces and find just a little more energy because I loved them so much. When I transfer that picture to God the Father and me the child, I am humbled and thankful - very thankful that He is much more patient that I.
