Assignment for September 7

You probably noticed how prominent Jesus is in this first chapter of Colossians. Of COURSE - how could you miss it? So this week we will look at just what Paul had to say about Who Jesus is.

Lesson Three, Day One

1. Jesus is God and all things are from Him, by Him, and through Him.

2. The Son pleased the Father so all fullness dwelt in the Son from the Father. They are united.

3. I thought of Phil 2 that He chose to come to earth, willing to humble himself to save us. It is awe-inspiring as well as humbling and reminds me how much I don't understand (mentally I know the answer but it is still WOWs me). My response is to please Him, worship Him, and thank Him.

Done for today. I have to say, I get really confused with these verses. It is kind of like I understand, but don't really understand all wrapped up into one statement.

Julie, your answers helped me. I was doing my lesson, but couldn't quite get a grasp on how to write my answers. I read yours and was able to formulate my own. Mine were pretty much the same, but variations of thoughts as well. For such a few short verses, plenty to think on for sure.

I'm a day late on this one, but on #3, I got to thinking about God coming to earth. You know, some people (past and present) wouldn't believe in God if He came down to this earth, identified himself, talked to them face to face, and did miracles right in front of them...oh yeah, that's exactly what he did!!! And had eye witnesses to testify about it!

That's true, Ann. I've thought about that some, too. I wonder what people would do to the apostles today if they came again - probably try to worship them and then kill them when they refused the worship just like the first time they were here. I guess people don't change much.
