1. God said Israel were a holy people and his treasured possession. He also said they were the fewest of all peoples.
“The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.”
2. I have felt forgotten by God at times. It has happened when I was in the middle of some difficult problems – and then more problems were added to my plate. At the time, it seemed like my prayers were not being answered with either a “yes” or a “no.” If I had turned away from God’s Word (his answers to me in scripture), I may have lost it all. Instead, by reading His word and asking for help, I learned to accept that my prayers were being answered with “wait upon the Lord” and "Be still and known that I AM God" instead.
3. A nursing mother will forget her child before God will forget me. This is interesting to me. Not just a mother but a nursing mother. It seems to me that the only difference would be that a nursing mother would feel physical pain (as well as emotional distress) if she was away from her child for too long. It makes me realize that my Father in Heaven doesn't just miss His erring children, but He aches for them.
4. God has engraved us on his palms.
5. “The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
6. “It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the hand; but they did not know it was I who healed them.”
7. God led them “with cords of a man…”
8. These cords were tied with “bonds of love.”
9. “I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.”
10. Our Father’s love is so great, that He considers us to be His children.

After reading these passages today, do you wonder why people think the God of the Old Testament is a harsh, judgmental God? Maybe they haven't read it all yet.
