Job 1:1-5 - A man blameless, upright, who feared God and shunned evil, wealthy. He was a caring father; example given was that he would regularly send for them and offered sacrifices for them in case ‘my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.’
Job 1:6 Satan
V7 - Walking on the earth, going to and fro on it
1Peter 5:8 - the devil is seeking those who he can devour
Job 1:9-11 - According to Satan, Job was faithful because God had a hedge around him and his stuff, protecting him and blessing him.
Job 1:17-20 - Job lost his livestock, death of his servants and children
Job’s response was to bless God, knowing that God gives and takes away.
Job 2 - Job’s second test was to have boils all over his body. Job’s wife tells him to curse God and die (there’s comfort and encouragement (said sarcastically))
2:11-13 – Job’s friends came and mourned with him
Job 3 – “I wish I was never born or I died at birth”
3:25-26 feared, dreaded, (not) at ease, trouble. (her version I think has peace for the third one and turmoil for the fourth)
Circumstance that challenges my peace – tax season, generally my job when work piles up.
Luke 22:31 - Satan desires to sift Peter like wheat
done for today...I don't know about the rest of you, but a lack of peace is one of the things I consistently struggle with (and this seems to go hand-in-hand with a lack of joy!). I'm always having to work hard at gaining inner peace...hopefully, I will gain some new insight this week that will help me!
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace..." Gal. 5:22, ff.
(I will memorize this passage one attribute at a time!)
