It's Friday again! Another week has passed. Did you try to encourage anyone this week? I hope so!!! If not, today is a good day to pick someone to encourage.

Your assignment today is to do the Digging Deeper question.

Oh yes, it's nice to have you back, Brooke!

Done for today.

"Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds." Hebrews 10:24

"As each one has received special gifts, employ them in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." I Peter 4:10

done for today...those verses about Jesus sending a "Helper" to his disciples...I really think that was a miraculous indwelling of the Holy Spirit just for the first century apostles and those they laid hands on; I don't think we are promised the same kind of help! Just sayin'... I know the Lord is our helper.

Yes, I agree with you Ann. That was a special promise to the Apostles; however, we also receive comfort from what the Holy Spirit inspired them to write and therefore from Him too. Of course we have to be careful about how we apply things not specifically promised to us!

Done. Sorry ladies, I kinda forgot to post yesterday.

I agree with what Ann said about the verses speaking about the Holy Spirit are specifically speaking of the first century church. But there is a verse which talks about the Holy Spirit being a helper to us now. Romans 8:26 (one of my favorite verses) says, "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." So while He does not miraculously dwell inside me, He is a helper to me.

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another in brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another. Romans 12:9-10
