Assignment for Thursday, February 19

Today we continue looking at what the Bible says about loving each other. Have you been watchful for ways to love someone this week? There are so many opportunities if we only have the eyes to see them. Answer questions 7, 8, and 9 today.

oops, forgot to post I was done yesterday.
Here are my answers for today:
7) John 15:12 says we are to love one another as Christ has loved us. In our small group last night we talked about 1 Cor 13 and what love means in this context. It was an interesting discussion to me in that it does not talk about how the other person should act-it simply says how you are commanded to love-no excuses if the person is not being very loveable at the moment. We also talked about a calmness in this love-patience, kindness, not arrogant, not seeking it's own, etc. These are all ways that Christ loves us!
8) We are to be devoted to one another in brotherly love giving preference to one another in honor--i think the interesting words here are devoted and honor. We are not just to like one another, but to be devoted to one another and to do all of this in honor.
9)We are supposed to love one another sincerely, fervently and from the heart.

One other comment about yesterday's assignment--my little disclosure...this is kind of my soap box.
I have noticed people feeling the need to "fix" a problem when a loved one is sick or dying or has died...I personally do not want to hear "oh it was for the best" or "God decided he needed them more" etc etc...If I have learned one thing from my job it is to just tell them you are so sorry for them and to let them know you love them and will be there to talk if the person wants, but DON'T TRY TO FIX IT...you can't!
