2. I read from the NASV, which translates these questions as “If there is any…” but I’m going to answer in more comfortable language, like is used in some of the other translations (I often refer to biblegateway.com to compare):
1. Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ?
2. Is there any comfort from his love?
3. Do you have fellowship together with the Spirit?
4. Is Christ tender and compassionate or Are your hearts tender and compassionate? (Some translate this as an action of Christ, others as an action we perform; the more literal translations are vague as to possession).
I found it interesting that the CEV translated them as statements (ie: Christ encourages you, his love comforts you…).
3. David thanks God for answering him immediately (on the same day he prayed – some translations say “the moment I cried out”); for making him bold and strengthening his soul.

I think it can be very encouraging to know that God can answer you immediately – from the moment your prayer is thought or spoken. But sometimes when I’ve been waiting a long time for an answer, passages like this one have been a challenge for me; as in “Why do I have to wait when I know YOU can answer me immediately!” In clearer moments, I understand that in keeping with other Psalms (27:14 or 37:7 for example), waiting for God’s answers/actions is also a necessary part of my faith.

Right now I'm praying for Courtney, who is having to wait for God's answer while her baby girl is in the O.R. Can I use this outlet to extend her request that we all pray with her?

Hi Ladies, Brooke here, I am not on the list to post, but I think I will be able to participate this time around. My only problem is that you won't likely hear from me on Monday's and Wednesdays, but I should be able to keep up on my own on those days.

Anyway, I am done for today and yesterday.

On #2 I read further down in Phillipians, and noticed after the list Paul givess, he plainly states it is all about thinking of each other first. If you keep that at the forefront it does make it easier to encourage.

We are praying for your friends Jennifer. They certainly need prayers and encouragement right now. Please keep us updated.

I'm so happy Brooke is able to join us again! You will notice I have added her name to Thursday per her request. I'm glad you are reading the context of the verses given. There is so much more to gain!
