Assignment For Tuesday, January 20

I'm not sure the questions in today's assignment really match the Scriptures she gives, but see what you think. Today do questions 2, 3, and 4.

My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the trying of your faith produces patience.

Oops. I originally learned this in the King James Version many years ago. Maybe I should just go back to that. lol

James 1:3-4

I didn't practice yesterday so as you can see - I NEED PRACTICE. (by the way, it is on the left side of my bible, left column, middle of page - does that count for anything?)

Hey everyone...I have a prayer request, my sister-in-laws youngest sister (Mandie Bailey, she's 19) is having a liver transplant today and we're asking for prayers from everyone! It's taking place in Seattle, will be done sometime this afternoon/evening...thanks a bunch!

Q. 2: Paul sent Timothy to Thessalonica to check on the brethren there. He was anxious to see how they were doing spiritually and wanted to be reassured that their faith was still strong and increasing.

Q. 3: In this verse, Judas and Silas were called prophets; they encouraged and strengthened the brethren in Antioch with a lengthy message. (I didn't understand if this "message" was a sermon or a message from other churches, apostles or elders).

Q. 4: In this scripture, Paul instructs Titus to speak, exhort and reprove with all authority. He also didn't want the Christians on Crete to disregard what he had to say. Earlier he said that he left Titus in Crete to appoint elders in every city, so Titus was given special, considerable authority.

"Consider it all joy, brethren, when you encounter various trials..."

okay, I'm peeking to finish:

"...knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance."

James 1:3-4

needs some work! :)

Ummm...is it just me or is the MV actually James 1:2-3??
Done for today--as to your comment Debbie about the verses not really going w/the questions yes, they are a little wierd, but I can see her point--it seems that she is narrowing things down further (i.e. applying the verses in Titus to the appointed elders instead of the older people in general teaching the younger)
"And count it all joy, my brethren, when you have trials, for trials produce endurance" James 1:2-3
Yeah, that is really not even close, but I will keep working on it!

Tammy,
Who are you married to? Mandy is my cousin! I'm so glad she's getting the transplant...I know she's been sick a long time; I will keep the whole family in my prayers (oh, Paul Bailey is my mom's first cousin)

Okay, done for today. I did feel that the scriptures were a little obscure and difficult to apply, but with the help of a concordance I felt like I got the general drift of what she was after...

Count it all joy brethren when you fall into various trials, for the testing of your faith produces patience... is that right?
James 1:2-3 or 3-4

HI All,

I am done for today and yesterday. I actually did yesterdays lesson, yesterday, but didn't get a chance to get online.

I did have a struggle with the verses as well. Jennifer, I think you did a great job answering them and your answers helped me clarify my thought process with my own answers.

Done for today. It did seem like the verses were a little weird for what she was trying to get at. And thanks Jennifer b/c I too, peeked at your answers to try and get what the author was going for!
Ann, I'm married to Seth Partain, his brother Jeremy is married to Angie Bailey (Mandie's sister). So you and I are related!! :) I'm starting to think that the Baileys are related almost everyone! lol

There ARE lots of Baileys all over the country...there were 9 surviving siblings in my grandfather's generation, after all (and almost all faithful Christians). We had a big reunion back in 1988 and there were 202 in attendance... imagine how many there are now!

Too many of you relied on me. I told you I didn't practice. Sarah, Ann, and everyone - I have been practicing today - it is James 1:2-3

My brethren, count it all joy to fall into various trails, for the testing of your faith produces patience.

Well, better but I have to check...
Nope not there yet but a whole lot better than this morning!
