Assignment for Monday, June 29

A new week and a new topic. Are you ready to be gentle?

From the survey results, it seems the majority of you would prefer to do something else by this author. I'll take a look to see what is available and present some options. Feel free to look yourselves and let us know what you think looks good. Also, I need some input as to when the next study should start.

I want to thank you again, ladies, for being a part of this study with me. It's so encouraging to have you all keep me accountable each day. I have enjoyed each study and look forward to many more!

Week Nine, Day One

I, too, really enjoy these studies. Doing this with you ladies encourages me ever so gently to open God's word every day and let Him talk to me! Personally, I would prefer not to take a whole month off between this study and the next, but I'm sure I can come up with something for myself if needed...

Done for today.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness...

Good morning,

John 21:15-19 – Christ command to Peter was to feed His sheep

“When you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and leads you where you do not want to go.”

Jesus predicted how Peter’s death would glorify God.

Peter’s gentleness - “His submission to Christ gave him great courage to speak.”

Jesus asked Paul “Why are you persecuting me?”

Paul was actually persecuting disciples.

V1 and 4 teach that when believers are persecuted, Jesus is persecuted.

Paul’s calling – to cry the name of Jesus before Gentiles and Israelites

Christ was going to show Paul how many things be must suffer for Jesus’ name sake

Some of the ways Paul suffered:

tribulations, needs, distresses, stripes, imprisonments, tumults, labors, sleeplessness, fastings, beatings, being stoned, shipwrecks, journeys; perils of waters, robbers, my own countrymen, the Gentiles, the city, the wilderness, the sea, among false brethren; weariness and toil, hunger and thirst, cold and nakedness—and last but not least his deep concern for all the churches.

Phil 3:3-11 – Paul counted these sufferings as rubbish compared to the gain of Christ

Paul’s qualities of gentleness – acceptance of God’s dealings and does not blame God for the persecutions of man

Sorry I was MIA toward the end of last week. I am enjoying the study too. I'll be gone for about 1/2 of July, so if you all go on to another study in July, I'll have to join up on the next one.

I am done for today. :)
