Assignment for Thursday, January 15

I don't want you Thursday posters to feel left out so today you get to answer questions 7 - 9. I am trying to divide the Friday ladies' work up a bit because the Digging Deeper section is a bit longer than the rest.

And consider one another in order to stir up love and good works. Hebrews 10:24

Hello Ladies!

#7 - David prays to not be vain. Effectively he wants to look beyond the physical and wants God's help in keeping his ways.

#8 - Paul preaches that we are all human, but we should be looking to turn away from the vain things of this world. My Bible has a footnote that indicates that the vain things Paul is talking about are false gods. In thinking about it futher, it seems that if we esteem anything above God, then we are looking to a false god or idol.

#9 - Reading from the New American Standard, 2 Timothy 4:2
"preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction."

Ok, so I am answering all of these before I read what Brooke wrote (so it doesn't skew my answers) but we will probably have some redundancy...

7) David is praying for God to help him not to be concentrating on the vain things of the world--I would assume money, good looks, self righteousness, etc. And then asks God to keep him following His ways
8)Paul was asking the people why they were calling Barnabus and Paul by mythological god names when the real God was speaking through Barnabus and Paul asking them to turn from the world and worship the one who created it all.
9)I think whatever translation you choose, you need to make sure that you are choosing one that is true to the words that God wrote
