Another day, another lesson. We are almost finished with this study. I would love to hear what has helped you most in this series so far.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Gal. 5:22-23

Honestly, I have appreciated and gotten something valuable from every lesson. It's been a long time since I studied this subject (years), and I feel I've achieved a deeper understanding of each quality and how integral they are to each other. The lesson this week is on self-control is by far the one I need the most. No, I don't drink or smoke, I don't tell (or listen to) off-color jokes, I do my best to keep my language clean and sweet, etc........But, I still have a problem in some areas with self-control, like over-eating too often and wasting way too much time on the computer. Still, I plan to review all of them and try to really tattoo them on my heart.

I hear you regarding the computer. It seems to eat time. Many times I think I have only been on for 30 minutes and it's actually been an hour or more.

Also wanted to say thank you to you all for sticking with the blog studies. Knowing you are there keeps me going. Not really self-control but you are my accountability. I am still 2 days behind on last weeks but on track for this week.

Done for today.

I think I have enjoyed studying each of the attributes described in Galations 5 in a more detailed "real life" manner. I missed some of the lessons, but from what I was able to participate in, I did pull daily application from.

I agree with you, Ann. Self-control is what I need to study most also. You know, it's funny how much easier it was for me when I had three precious pairs of eyes watching my every move. Now much of my time is spent without anyone watching - see there? I made a mistake. Someone is always watching. lol

Sorry I'm so late today, Ladies! My parents arrived today (I was expecting them tomorrow!) I'm so happy to see them, but it threw off my groove! :)

I definitely agree that self-control is my biggest challenge, but I also think that joy is something I really need to hold fast to.

1. Nazarites were not to drink alcohol, grape juice or vinegar, nor even eat grapes; they could not cut their hair or go near a dead body.
2. Paul cut his hair because of a vow he had taken.
3. Samson found the honey in the dead body of a lion.
4. He ate the honey. He also gave some to his parents to eat without telling them where he got it.
5. Honor your father and mother that your days may be prolonged.
6. We will reap what we sow; whether corruption or eternal life.
7. Daniel was offered “choice” foods (probably rich, fatty foods) and wine.
8. He asked for vegetables and water.
9. Daniel didn’t want to be defiled by the king’s foods.
10. Daniel’s attitude showed respect for God’s laws, even while he was far from his home and figures of religious authority, whereas Samson’s attitude showed that he disregarded God’s laws openly. It didn’t seem like he cared what his parents thought.
11. God saved Daniel’s life by closing the mouths of the lions.
12. King Darius was thrilled that Daniel was still alive.
13. Daniel enjoyed success with King Darius and King Cyrus.
14. I feel like I learned more from Daniel’s story. I’ve never identified with Samson in any way, but that doesn’t mean I’m immune to attitude problems! :)

I'd have to say I have a whole lot to work on in all of these areas. I've really enjoyed this study although I have found it rather overwhelming at times to have my toes stepped on so much. It has been good though.
