Assignment for Monday, March 30

Welcome to another week of encouragement. As most of you know, Ann spent all of yesterday in the hospital recovering from the effects of a Thunderclap headache. As the doctor explained it, she had a blood vessel in her brain constrict suddenly which caused a terribly bad headache (which Ann didn't remember as of last night) and loss of blood flow to certain areas of her brain. By the time the CAT scan was done at the hospital, that blood vessel had expanded back out so that there did not seem to be any permanent damage even though it took Ann about 7 hours to begin to fully recover her memory. Her doctor ordered complete rest for a couple of days and told us she should be back at 100% within two weeks. So Ann, if you are reading this today, I want you to go back to bed. The rest of us will keep you in our prayers for a full recovery.

Today's assignment is to answer question 3 and the first three parts of question 4. If you are ready and willing, go ahead and begin working on the next verse in Romans 12.

We're praying for you, Ann!

I'm glad to be home and missed you all last week. This study has been very encouraging for me!

Here are my ideas (they are not very original):

3. Spring: share a good paperback novel for rainy days when cabin fever is strong
Summer: give a new bottle of nail polish for those newly-exposed toes (silly, I know)
Autumn: give some tulip bulbs that can be planted immediately but won't bloom until spring (reminding us that sometimes patience is well rewarded).
Winter: give some cookie or brownie mix in a jar.

4. Ground Hog's Day: Since winter is getting old but will still be hanging around for a few weeks, how about a new soup recipe to share? Or a box of different tea -- just for a change?

Valentine's Day: Send several "what I love about you" notes by mail or e-mail

St. Patrick's Day: Rent "Brigadoon" to watch together with a friend, or give a small plant or packet of flower seeds -- spring is coming.

"Let love be without hypocrisy; abhor what is evil, cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love, give preference to one another in honor, be diligent..., fervent in spirit..."
