Read Psalms 19-24.

These psalms are some of my favorite. The emotions in them run the gambit - fear, aloneness, sadness to peace, joy, comfort. You are reminded over and over of the Lord's presence and protection. Even the creation shout of Him.

Where are you, ladies? It's lonely here with just Julie and I.

Hi all--sorry you are lonely! I am finding that posting after bedtime is easier for me--for whatever reason my 1 year old doesn't like me trying to concentrate for extended lengths of time :)
Today my study was again on trying to realize that no matter a person's past, Jesus died for her. Trying to see my value through God's eyes instead of just what I think others see is interesting--and humbling. The author focused mostly on the Samaritan woman and how even though we may see her as a "major" sinner-she was just a sinner who needed forgiveness to God. This is helpful for me especially in remembering that I in many ways had an advantageous upbringing-both of my parents are Christians and I was raised in the church of Christ. I made poor choices along the way but I had moral direction. NOt everyone has this and some people struggle in ways that I do not--but I am no better-I am a sinner and God forgives me just as He does them. On the flip side I am so thankful God does not show favorites--compared to what I think of as Biblical greats--I have done nothing extraordinary--but God is true to His promise and loves me still.

I'm here too!!

One of the things that I've been looking at this week is the idea of "waiting on the Lord." The author of this book points out that the word translated "wait" in many of these passages is the Hebrew word that means "to lie in wait for someone, to expect, await, to look for patiently." So waiting on the Lord doesn't mean that we're sitting around twiddling our thumbs and waiting for Him to arrive. We are waiting in eager expectation for Him to arrive and save us. We know that He is coming, are watching for it, and are ready for Him when He does arrive.

"Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;

O Lord, hear my voice. Let Your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.

If You, O Lord, keep a record of sins, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope.

My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning."

Psalm 130:1-6
